Food!

We gave Grant his first taste of "real food"! Rice cereal was not his favorite to say the least. He kept spitting it out as quickly as we could get it in his mouth. He seemed to like his fingers much better. Who knows how much he actually ate, but we are just practicing at this point.

GG

Grant's Great-Grandma (GG) absolutely loves him...which is no surprise :) Whenever we are in Florence she wants to hold him as much as possible. She said that she never had time to hold her own kids and grandkids, so she is loving getting the chance to hold Grant. GG says that her arms "ache to hold him". She can just sit and hold him for hours, and right now Grant will sit quietly with her. We'll see how long that lasts the more mobile he gets.

Squaw Lake

Last weekend we went on a hike with Grandma Caswell in the Sky Lakes Wilderness. We hiked two miles to Squaw Lake, took a break to feed Grant, then hiked two miles back out. Grant absolutely loves being in the front pack with Daddy! He stares at the trees until he falls asleep (which he almost always does). One of Daddy's favorite things to do is go backpacking, so we are starting Grant early. Although this wasn't his first hike, it was his first time in a Wilderness area. Someday he will be going on many overnight backpacking trips with his dad (and maybe mom).

My New Chair

Grandma Caswell found this great high chair at the Jacksonville garage sales last week. We have been searching for a high chair for a long time, knowing that soon Grant will be starting to eat some solid food. He is a little small for it right now, but soon it will fit just right! Thanks Grandma!

A New Face

When Grant was first born he always made the same "kissy" face. He has now moved on to a "sucky lip" face. He sucks in his bottom lip and pushes his top one out. It cracks us up every time. He kind of looks like an old man when he does it. This picture doesn't quite do it justice. This face comes with a little more drool than the previous one though.

Boating with the Davenports

We took Grant on his first boat ride with our friends, Spencer, Amanda, and Claire. It was a beautiful day at the lake, and Grant got to watch both Mommy and Daddy ski. We ended the day with pizza and yummy peach cobbler, made by Amanda.

Claire was nice enough to let Grant borrow her pink life jacket :)

Claire loved the bear pepperoni that Paul brought along.

Long day!
